Beedle should be patrolling some area of the Forest Realm, so agree to take the boy aboard and plan a route to the balloon. Look for Beedle's face on your map -- this indicates his position. When you near the balloon, toot your horn to get Beedle to dock alongside you. Stop in front of his shop and you'll enter it. For fulfilling the boy's request he'll give you a Force Gem! Goron Iron is available in the west portion of Goron Village by the mailbox. Talk to the Goron here and purchase a full supply. You need to get to Whittleton with 5 units left of your supply of Talk to the fellow by the pile of lumber to donate some iron to his cause. In return you'll get Force Gem 7. Tell the Goron in the center of the Goron Village that you'll take him to see some snow and he'll get on your train. Take him to Anouki Village to get Force Gem 9.

Take the warp in the southwest corner of the Forest Realm if you wish, then stop in at any places you pass along the way to the Snow Sanctuary to make a sort of "save point" in case you get nailed by a snowball or cannon.
