He's figured out how to make a projectile out of basically anything, and has shot people with playing cards, throwing knives, coins, tin plates and a variety of other items he found laying around. However, only one character can actually claim they held a spot on the roster of both the Avengers and the Justice League—Hawkeye.
Clint got fed up with the Avengers, and opted to join up with DC's super-team. There, he awkwardly fell for and stole fellow archer Green Arrow's girlfriend, Black Canary.
Even though Hawkeye knows how to fight and remain relevant after his quiver is empty, it is still frustrating for the marksman when he runs out of arrows.
When Hawkeye is fighting supervillains, he doesn't really have time to take off his quiver, search for the perfect arrow for the particular situation, pull it out and shoot it. Clint needs to react in just a few seconds, so he created a mechanized quiver which instantly pops out his desired arrow once he presses a particular button located along the grip of his bow. This keeps Hawkeye from ever having to take his eyes off his target.
Clint has always been associated with his arrows and mastery over them, but one of his superhero personas actually didn't use his iconic weapons at all. To continue to aid the Avengers after he ran out of arrows, Hawkeye went into Hank Pym's wardrobe and threw on the scientist's old Goliath uniform, downed some Pym Particles to become a giant, and relied solely on his massive fists and newfound strength in combat.
Hawkeye's arrows are typically used in feats of heroism, but when Clint first showed up in Marvel Comics, he actually used them to commit crimes. He was initially trained by villains Trick Shot and Swordsman, and accidentally became a Soviet spy at the start of his friendship with Black Widow.
The MCU also briefly experimented with a villainous Hawkeye. Unfortunately, this didn't really help with his form. For some fans, Hawkeye will always be Clint Barton. In the comics, however, Clint eventually realized that he wouldn't always be able to perform as the Avengers' top marksman, so he trained up a protege named Kate Bishop. One of those being his hacker arrow which is an arrow that contains a solid-state computer drive in the tip and can upload a specific code onto any device it's plugged into.
While under the mind control of Loki , Hawkeye was able to use it to shoot the arrow into the main command center of the Helicarrier and shut down another one of the ship's rotors which had to be fixed manually. Hawkeye's quiver can only hold so many arrows and there are often more enemies than he has arrows for but luckily he has some that help with that as well.
Hawkeye has a set of burst shot arrows that have secondary projectiles that are stored in the arrowhead and get ejected after hitting its intended target. The arrow works best when Clint is outnumbered and going up against a group rather than an individual which is why he used it against the Chitauri during the battle of New York, allowing him to take out several of the aliens using the least amount of arrows possible.
Sometimes the enemies Hawkeye fights will have armor or plating that would be too difficult for a normal arrow to pass through which is why he also has thermal arrows that he can use when the object he needs to pierce is too thick. The tip of the thermal arrow has a chemical mixture that, when activated, can melt through almost any material including most metals. It was one of the many arrows he used during the Battle of New York, aiming it at a Chitauri chariot, causing it to overheat and crash into a nearby building.
Since he has no powers, getting around from place to place is much harder for Clint since he can't fly like Iron Man and Thor or make giant leaps like the Hulk. It also makes it more difficult for him when he needs to get out of dangerous situations like when he had to jump off of the building where he was perched for most of the battle in The Avengers in order to escape the horde of Chitauri chariots that were heading towards and firing at him.
Luckily as he was falling, he was able to fire a grappling hook arrow at the side of the building, allowing him to swing through one of the windows and land inside, protecting him from the attackers. While Hawkeye usually doesn't miss, he does have arrows that make it easier for him to hit his target or even multiple targets at once. Hawkeye's pulse arrow emits a degree shockwave that is capable of sending those in the general vicinity flying backward or at the very least, knocking them off their feet.
However, Hawkeye's boomerang arrows are an exception to this rule. He's been using them since his initial appearances in the comics and even decided to fight Iron Man with this type of Arrow. This arrow could very well appear in the upcoming TV show since in the comics, Clint and Kate Bishop use them to fight the villainous team the Tracksuit Draculas who have already been confirmed as villains in the show.
Boomerang arrow might seem like a silly idea at first but it does come in handy since Clint doesn't have an everlasting supply of arrows at his disposal. Superheroes such as Black Canary manage it on their own but since Hawkeye can't emit a sonic scream, he uses an arrow that does it for him instead. While they don't seem to do much physical damage, certainly not as much as other types of arrows Hawkeye works with, the sonic arrows are good for distracting his opponents with the sudden noise.
The disadvantage is that if Hawkeye is trying to keep his presence a secret, using the sonic arrow pretty much gives it away. Using it can also potentially be dangerous for the archer if they don't cover their ears if close to the arrow. However, both Clint and Kate know better than to make mistakes like that. Hawkeye doesn't need to be an accomplished hacker since his arrows do it for him.
The hacker arrow is less violent than other of his arrows but just as effective. Hawkeye can use it to quickly hack into computers and gain sensitive data from them or plant a computer virus into them. Clint did the second thing when he was brainwashed by Loki in Avengers and he brought down a Helicarrier's engine. So even though the hacker arrow is small, it's certainly dangerous. Luckily, he has his grapple arrows to transport between buildings when he needs to move fast in the air and not to fall.
He demonstrated this in Avengers when he had to jump from a building and shot a grappling arrow in order not to fall and die. A lot of Hawkeye's arrows serve a different purpose than an arrow originally did. A good example of this is the acid arrow.
